Feery's Leap
Altanis

from The World of the Wilderlands:
The central portion of the Pazidan Peninsula is dominated by savage clans of Altanians, red-skinned barbarians who once served as auxiliaries for the legions of the Dragon Empire. Today the barbarians squat in primitive glory amidst the ruins of the ancient and eldritch empire. The mountain tribes of the Ered Perack and the Castelian Mountains are the most atavistic, preferring weapons of stone, including the obsidian blades their feathered priests use to carve out the hearts of their enemies. The forest, hill, and plains tribes, though savage, are less xenophobic, and are as likely to trade as to raid. The City State of Zothay, the largest center of civilization in Altanis, is held in thrall by the Skandik Warlord of Ossary, and as such the veneer of civilization is parchment thin.
Demi-humans and humanoids are common in these lands, as they are in the Roglaras to the north; man here is in the minority, and perhaps were it not for the savage virility and stubbornness of the Altanians, would be subjugated. The Pazidan Peninsula’s little sister, the Antillian Peninsula is in fact dominated by elven blood; though they deny it with the working end of the poniard, Antillians have no little elven blood, though they are mannish of race.
Where the Altanians are savage and wild, the Antillians are cunning and cruel, a trait that served them well during the long years their lands stood between Viridistan and the Dragon Empire. Today the Antillians seek to grow in power through trade, taking advantage of their elven neighbor’s isolationist tendencies to buy cheap and sell dear. Too, a great deal of slave trade in the north passes through Antil itself, as slave catchers and merchants meet on neutral ground between the greater powers of the Roglaras and Viridistan.
