Feery's Leap
Ghinor Highlands

from The World of the Wilderlands:
The Highlands after which this region is named only constitute less than half the area of the region.
To the north and west of the Highlands is a continuation of the chaotic mix of the Ament Lands to the west. There are more settled communities here, though, as the climate is warmer and much more conducive to farming. Most mannish settlements of the lowlands are Ghinorian or a mix of Ghinorian, Mgona, and Tlanitlan. A race of Cavemen known as Elritorns, who have a relation with plants as the northern Elphan Cavemen have with animals, wanders the forests and plains of the lowlands; most folk consider them a holy people.
The western coast, once settled by Lenapashim, is home to several small city states, while in the west the Tulamites of the Southern Reaches have a few settlements on the Ghinor Plains. The greatest civilization in the lowlands is that of the Amenti elves, descended from Enneadim colonists centuries ago. Isolated and xenophobic, they generally communicate only with other elven communities, when they bother to stir from their decadent reveries at all. The most virile civilization in the region is that of the Ironfoot dwarves on the Highlands. The Parzillutu Kingdom dominates the Highlands, though does not have the power to control it; there are still settlements of other races to be found, and the Mgona nomads, as is their way, wander wherever their herds lead them. But the theocratic kingdom of the dwarves still commands the fear, if not the respect of all within reach; there remain no few legends of the days of the founding of the theocracy, when men and elves died screaming on the burning altars of Umannah. Fortunately, the dwarves have little desire for conquest in the lowlands, for they consider the great Highland plateau to be holy to their god. Too, the priests are more concerned today with the rebellion of their eastern cities, which have turned from Umannah to revere Apollo, a great enemy of the God of the Burning Sun.
