Feery's Leap
Isles of the Blest

from The World of the Wilderlands:
The trailing end of the Pazidan Peninsula is home to the Orichalan peoples; once great of civilization, they spread the worship of their deities and their philosophies far and wide across the Wilderlands. Even today Athena, Apollo, Hephaestus, and others of their pantheon are well-regarded. Modern Orichalans, like their far-flung descendents, are quite divergent culturally from their ancestors, as their lands fell under the sway of the Dragon Lords of the Isle of the Blest long millennia ago, and inextricably bound their fortunes with those of the followers of the Dragon Gods. Today Oricha is a land of ancient ruins and hoary sorrows, with haunted hills and weathered ruins. Like Altanis to the north, men are greatly outnumbered, and are divided into petty kingdoms; rather than fight for their homes, many set out as adventurers or mercenaries, never to return to the lands of their birth. It is the demi-humans and humanoids who today rule the southern peninsula, most remarkably a goodly orcish peoples (!) often allied with elves and dwarves. Only on the Isle of the Blest does the race of man still hold sway; isolated from outside influences by the towering Markab Mountains and treacherous rocky sea cliffs, these Orichalans continue life as it was centuries ago, still fighting the ancient, ruinous civil war that devastated the Pazidan and destroyed the Dragon Empire. What little trade occurs in these lands through the monster-haunted jungles and hills of the south is controlled by Rallu, the City State of the Sea Kings on the southeastern tip of the isle. The seas around the peninsula and isle are contested; in the east they are held firmly by Rallu, but in the west the purple-sailed pirates of Lenap, independent Orichalan vessels from the mainland, and the motley pirate clans of the Crusader Coast harry Ralluvim merchant vessels, disappearing into the misty seas whenever warships appear on the horizon.
