Letter Fragment

Edane_letter_fragment.jpgWhen Edane took a moment to send her mother a brief note via lesser sending, this note appeared in the micro-portal, coated in evanescent dust and clutched in a golem-like hand of planar silver, brass, and wood. The parchment is badly tattered and scoured, but it is clearly a note from Edane’s book, in her hand. The dust and the damage would seem to indicate this came from the plane of Entropy.

Ellipses indicate missing passages. If the damage is from the sands of Entropy, the text is unlikely to respond to treatment with make whole or similar magic, though careful study and divination may recover a bit more of the text.

[…] probably for the best that you don’t know exactly […]

It’s still hard to imagine how this disastrous turn of events came about. One of our own […] It makes no sense.

[…] sleeping fitfully beneath those accursed steppes for millennia. We fought one off – routed his armies and drove him into the Shadow, but that was just the beginning. Another stirred from a bleak and blasted tower in the […] undead plants north and west. That drove whole bands of orcs […]

Before we could face that threat, we got into trouble in the Valley of the Ancients. We were following a lead […] true sunlight, and we found a primitive tribe […] down a volcanic shaft, so we snuck down to see what we could find. What a mistake!

We found more than we bargained for. The bottom of the shaft was neatly piled with hundreds of […] wasn’t there, so we went exploring. We eventually found something of an altar, or at least a laboratory. The scepter was there on the slab. We approached, Feordin taking the rear. Then suddenly he was […] it had been ruined. Then the lich attacked. Oervind fell in the fight. Please sing him along the Bright Road; I would like to see him again someday. He might hide it well, but he has a good heart.

We found Gux after the fight, […] almost two weeks to find another exit from the caves. We fled […] overrun with orcs. […] survivors in Kimenta, […]

[…] unexpected help from a necromancer and his vampire and mummy servants from the north, who arrived in an outlandish flying keep.

I’m taking Sender, Shegger, Aranethon, Ersku, and Mac’Ka to Valon to return […], because this can’t be the end of it. It feels like we’re being watched, […] ask that traitor in Vertigo for help – may the Sparkling Lady see that it doesn’t come to that.

Please take care of yourself. It might be good to leave Sea Rune for a while. Visit the Truesilver Glade to give offerings for Oervind, […] allies in the Skandik pantheon.

Please let me know that you are somewhere safe. I am not ready to light your way through the darkness. I will send word as soon as I can.
